Africa Family Business Summit 2023

Statement of Purpose

Governance involves decision-making and implementation within an organization and is crucial for its success. Good governance strengthens relationships among stakeholders and enhances business performance by attracting capital and top talent. Recently, there's been an increased focus on improving governance, especially in public companies, by strengthening boards and shareholder relations.

However, governance in family businesses is more complex due to the central role of the family in ownership and leadership. Family businesses must adopt good governance practices to ensure long-term sustainability. The Africa Family Business Summit will focus on “Family Business Governance – A key Strategy for Continuity,” emphasizing the importance of governance in guiding family businesses through challenging times and ensuring multi-generational success.
